POWER PLAY WITH COVER FX LATEST FOUNDATION LAUNCH

I received an email from Monty PR last week.  I saw 40 shades, matte and foundation and of course I went running!  So privileged to be at the launch of Cover FX new counter in Selfridges London as well as the launch of the new Power Play Foundation.

If you are a regular reader, you would know I have a few foundations in my collection but am always on the hunt for the next best thing!  Let’s find out if Cover FX Power Play Foundation make the cut!

The foundation comes in a very minimalistic plastic bottle.  You would twist the chrome cap to open.  The foundation can be dispensed with adequate control by gently squeezing the bottle.  The packaging is super practical and travel-friendly.

What Cover FX says:

Available in 40 diverse shades, this liquid foundation has buildable, medium to full coverage with a modern-matte finish. Loaded with a trio of ultra-fine powders that control shine and visibly blur imperfections, it stays on skin all day without dulling or drying complexion.

Power Play Foundation is sweatproof, waterproof, transfer-proof and provides all day wear.

Find your shade range (Light–Deep)

It is vegan, cruelty-free and free of talc, oil, fragrance, parabens and gluten.

Yup! 40 shades!  Pretty extensive and impressive launch right!  I was matched to G40 (although I think I can also get away with N40)

Below is a swatch of Cover FX Power Play Foundation in G40 taken indoors in natural lighting.

I have been testing the foundation for the last 4 days and I am pretty impressed!  Cover FX Power Play Foundation has a creamy but not to0 viscous texture.  It blends out effortlessly on my skin with or without primer.  The coverage is definitely buildable to a medium coverage.  Some of my darker skin pigmentations can still be seen.  What I love about the foundation is the skin-like finish that it offers.  It feels incredibly lightweight on!  You literally feel like you’re not wearing foundation at all.  There is definitely some blurring property too.  My pores are less visible and my skin appears smoother.

Just like other long-wearing foundations I have tried, Power Play sets relatively fast so remember to work in small sections.  It sets to a beautiful powdery finish, no tackiness at all! The foundation seems to melt right into the skin and becomes one.  If your skin type is not too oily, you probably can skip setting powder.  I think the foundation does have the tendency to cling to dry skin patches so thorough skin preparation is always a good idea.  That said, I don’t think it clings to dry patches as much as other matte foundations that I have tried.

Is it transfer proof?  I think it is! Unless you’re deliberately using rubbing motion then it definitely wouldn’t come off.  However once my oil has seeped through, it will transfer.

Cover FX Power Play Foundation wears perfectly on me for 4-5 hours before I can see my natural oil starting to seep through.  I actually prefer how I look at this point, more blended and radiant.  By the 6-8 hour mark, I would feel the need to blot.  It’s not the longest wearing foundation in my stash but it’s definitely pretty good for my oily skin.  What makes Cover FX Powder Play Foundation a winner in my book is the fact that it matches my skin undertone so perfectly, wears well with such a natural finish.

Here are some more random swatches I managed to take at the launch.  I couldn’t do anymore as the swatches were so hard to take off!

Final thoughts:

Cover FX Power Play Foundation has easily made it to my top 5 favourite foundations.  I truly adore the weightless and skin-like finish.  If you are in the market for a long-wearing yet natural looking foundation, I’d highly recommend you checking out this wonderful new offering from Cover FX.

Thanks for the amazing review and beautiful photos! I ordered mine yesterday once I saw they were available. Have you tried the new Bobbie Brown Long Wear foundation? I gave it a go last week, and it lasts well but it stayed tacky no matter how much powder I used.

Thank you so much for reading! I have tried the new Bobbie Brown a few times. I did think it was quite tacky but once powdered it was ok. I have to try it again.xo
