Bourjois is one of the drugstore makeup brands that I love. Lisa Eldridge raved about Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation so much that I remember using all my Boots points to purchase it years ago! When I received a VoxBox from Influenster a few weeks ago, I was excited to try a few new things and happy to have a fresh supply of my Healthy Mix foundation.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation No 53 | £9.99
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the formulation of the foundation has been changed, for the better! Now there are 9 shades available versus a measly 4 shades before. I’m in awe of its blendability! It glides over my skin imperfections effortlessly imparting a flawless and healthy satin finish. Over my usual mattifying primer, the foundation lasts well over 5-6 hours on my oily skin in the current cold winter climate before some blotting is needed. Healthy Mix foundation provides a light to medium coverage and also contains vitamins C, E and B5 that can give skin an instant anti-fatigue effect. Any makeup product that can provide skin benefits is a winner in my book!
I have to say Healthy Mix can easily rival some of my high-end foundations.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer 52 Medium | £8.99
I adore the texture of the concealer, so creamy and hydrating! It provides a light coverage. I love using it on my under eye areas for some much needed brightening. It blends out beautifully. No creasing occurs once set with powder.
As with Healthy Mix Foudation, Healthy Mix Concealer also contains vitamins C, E and B5 to boost skin radiance while helping erasing skin imperfections.
Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher 34 Rose d’Or | £6.49
There are 12 shades in these little cute pots on offer, rather wonderful I must say. I am impressed that there is a built-in mirror, extremely generous for the drugstore pricing but makes it very convenient to port around for touch ups. These little pot blushers have been around for over 150 years and have made Bourjois famous. I already have shade 54 Rose Frisson in my collection. I’m glad to add Rose d’Or to my arsenal. Each pot comes with a little brush that I don’t really use to be honest. The baked texture is fine and spreadable. Rose d’Or is a beautiful fresh pink with some fine golden shimmers for a healthy sheen. There is rose scent to it which can be a little overpowering, especially if you don’t favour the scent. The blush has good pigmentation which is very buildable. It lasts well over 6 hours on my oily skin before some fading takes place.
Bourjois Quad Smoky Stories Eyeshadow Palette 15 Brilliant Prunette | £7.99
My very first experience with Bourjois eyeshadows! I love that the palette comes with co-ordinated shades that definitely makes it easier to create looks with. There are quite a few colour schemes in the range. Within this Brilliant Prunette palette, there are 3 satin shades and a glitter shade. All the satin shades are smooth and feel buttery to the touch. They swatched beautifully. The lightest shade has an integrated base primer to prolong the longevity of colours and I think it does what it claims. The shadows blend out well and compliment each other. I find the pigmentation quite good and buildable. For my preference, the glitter shade could be a little better. The glitters are slightly more chunky than what I normally look for. They don’t adhere to my lids very well and there is quite a bit of fall out during application and wear. Glitter glue could be of use here. And I think it’s best to do your eye makeup before your base so if needed you can clean up any messes first.
Bourjois Metallic Lip Creams | £7.99
Now these are the fun items that I was looking forward to play with. Unicorn makeup is all the rage at the moment. I feel these could be just the thing to incorporate a little of this trend into your everyday makeup looks.
The packaging is sleek and tempting which I like. The doe-foot applicator distributes the product well. The metallic lip creams have a thick formula that helps minimise the product migrating and sticking to your teeth. I was sent 3 shades: 100 Guilded Rose, 300 Supernova and 500 Neon Nights. The pink shade is a little out there for me but does tie the whole look together with the Smoky Stories Eyeshadow Palette in Brilliant Prunette. The other two shades are great as lip toppers. What makes these winners is the fact that they are ultra pigmented, beautiful high shine glossy finish, non drying, extremely long lasting and glide on the lips with ease.
These Metallic Lip Creams are available exclusively at Superdrug.
Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Ultra Black Mascara | £8.99
I haven’t tried many mascara offerings from Bourjois and was intrigued to see what this mascara can offer. The Volume Glamour Push mascara comes in a sleek, black tube and the brush has lots of bristles to get a hold of your lashes. The mascara does add volume and length as it claims. It doesn’t “push up” my lashes as much as I wanted it to, bear in mind that I have naturally straight lashes. The formula is quite wet so too much layering can lead to clumping quickly. A lot of product tends to gather at the end of the brush when pulling it out, so you might have to wipe it off before applying. I love that it is an intense black and doesn’t smudge on me.
Overall, these are some solid offerings from Bourjois. Healthy Mix Foundation is a must try if you’re on a hunt for a good foundation with a healthy and dewy finish. There are always promotions that you can look out for, making them even more affordable.
