DRUGSTORE GEMS FROM SLEEK MAKEUP

My makeup journey/obsession went full blown when I turned 30 and for that reason I dived straight into high-end brands.  When it comes to drugstores makeup, I tend to purchase the items that have been much raved about.  Sleek MakeUP Cleopatra’s Kiss highlighting compact was one that I picked up, including a backup.

A little about Sleek MakeUP

Born in the heart of East London in 1995, in response to deeper skin tones being under represented in the market.  The  brand’s mission is to promote inclusivity and giving customers the freedom to express themselves.  The brand was quickly loved by all due to its on-trend, high quality products at an affordable price point.

By 2009 the brand became a global player, launching into new markets and online.  Sleek MakeUP became part of the Walgreens Boots Alliance family in 2015.

A few weeks ago, I was sent some items from the brand to try.  There was no obligation to do this blog post, however I’ve really enjoyed them so here we are!

I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette A New Day| £8.99

The palette contains 5 mattes and 7 shimmery mineral-based eyeshadows.  The shades are very wearable, everyday shades with a variety of cool and warm undertones.

There’s some dustiness with the eyeshadows but nothing major, just lightly tap your brush.  All shades have thin texture, smooth and soft.  They have good pigmentation and are easy to blend.

The formula of these eyeshadow is actually really good for my oily lids (slightly hooded), lasting over 8 hours which is fabulous!

I must admit,  I’m really surprised how much I’ve been enjoying the palette.  I adore the lemon pearlescent shade (top left); it has a beautiful metallic sheen and is so brightening.

Solstice Highlighting Palette| £9.99

Housed in a sleek, tinged rosegold compact, this palette contains some fun and blinding highlighters.  I knew I would love Solstice since I adore the Cleopatra’s Kiss palette.

There is one cream highlighter (Ecliptic) and 3 powder ones in the palette.  They blend out effortlessly and can be buffed out to give a gorgeous luminous sheen.  The Hemisphere shade looks intimidating in the pan yet is very wearable.  You can layer the powder highlighters on top of Ecliptic for the extra oomph.

The highlighters last incredibly well on my oily skin, over 6 hours.

Lip Shot Gloss Impact| £4.99

I wasn’t sure what to expect from these Lip Shots.  However, the formula truly blew me away!  Intensely hydrating, packed with pigmentation and a glorious high shine without any stickiness.  I love that they don’t have any chemical/cosmetic smell even though they’re not infused with any fragrance.

I have two shades:

  • Brutal Honesty: an easy MLBB pink
  • Dark Paradise: a medium dark mauve, perfect for Fall.

The lip glosses feel very comfy on, don’t bunch up in any weird places and smooth over my lip lines.  The longevity is great for glosses, lasting 3-4 hours without any food consumption.  I have lovingly tossed these in my handbag since I’ve got them for easy touch-ups.

Final thoughts

These are some gems from the drugstores!  All are worth checking out.  They definitely have my stamp of approval!

Check these out on Sleek MakeUP and various stockists.

That highlighter palette is gorgeous! The glosses definitely don’t look as sticky as normal either x
