AN OPULENCE EXPERIENCE – PAT MCGRATH LABS MTHRSHP SUBLIME BRONZE AMBITION

I have constantly seen Pat McGrath (PM) products receiving much rave reviews on Instagram and have been dying to try the brand out.  However, it wasn’t so easily accessible in the UK.  I only found out recently that Net-a-Porter has started stocking the line (I’m ecstatic!).

Prior to this knowledge, a friend of mine was travelling to the US last month and was kind enough to take a shopping order for me!  There was so many things I wanted to try from PM, but I figured that I might as well purchase something that I would definitely use, so PM MTHRSHIP Sublime Bronze Ambition it was!

Pat McGrath Labs

Pat McGrath Labs was founded by world-renowned British Makeup Artist, Pat McGrath MBE.  She believes makeup is major and a movement.  Obsession.  Inspiration.  Addiction.  Those are 3 guiding principles that helped her to bring the brand to life.

Back to Bronze Ambition, the eyeshadows are housed in a sturdy cardboard wallet with a built-in mirror.  I’m obsessed with the art on the packaging, very artistic and intriguing.

There is a high quality plastic sheet with the eyeshadow names printed on.  Just as a number of people have mentioned, I also do wish the names were printed under the shadow pans themselves since I have no way of remembering the shade names.

Performance

I think I must have gasped when I first touched the shadows.  Such soft, smooth and creamy texture!  All shades are ultra pigmented.  Exquisite!  The shadows truly have lived up to their reputation.

Out of the 6 shades, Illicit feels drier to the touch.  That said, pigmentation and performance are stellar still.  More about that later.

The shades in Bronze Ambition are warm-tones browns and coppers.  Possibly quite dupable if you have quite a selection of eyeshadows in your stash.  To me, these shades are timeless, sophisticated and elegant therefore never enough of them!

For the above swatches, I only had to lightly touch the pans once.  Amazing!

There’s only one matte shade in the palette which is Throwing Shade.

  • Gilt Trip: medium gold
  • Bronze Struck: golden bronze with a metallic sheen
  • Copperized: copper with orange undertone with a metallic sheen.  The texture is so smooth, almost feels like a cream.
  • Illicit: dark brown with micro glitters
  • Throwing Shade: orange-y brown, matte
  • Gold Rush:  golden copper with a stunning metallic sheen

All shades blend and diffuse incredibly well.  Opaque with just one stroke!  They layer well and do not get muddy.  To intensify the shine, I’d use my finger tips to press the shadows on.

On my oily lids (primed), the shades would crease around 6/7 hours in but I’m not surprised as most creamy eyeshadows would crease on my hooded lids.  For the opulent texture, I can live with the longevity.

Final thoughts

I am so glad I finally tried Pat McGrath Labs.  I’m super impressed with the quality and performance.  Simply SUBLIME!  Everyone might just need a little bit of Pat McGrath in their life!  Some Pat McGrath Labs lipsticks are already in my cart right now:)

If you’re in the UK, you can find Pat McGrath Labs on Net-a-porter.

Have you tried Pat McGrath Labs products? What’s your favourite PM item?

Thanks for being here today!

Much love always,
