COMPLETE CONFIDENCE WITH PHILIPS BEAUTY

I have talked a lot about my preferences in my makeup choices and my skincare routines.  Today I’m sharing a little about my personal care, products that I love to incorporate in my busy everyday life.

One of my life savers is the Philips Lumea Prestige BRI956, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for home use.  Who has time to shave every few days!  Certainly not me:)  Not to mention the accidental cuts or painful flareups of ingrowing hair!   Typically, I would shave under my arms every other day, legs twice a week and once weekly on my bikini line.  When I found out I can have up to 8 weeks of hair free, I’d jump at the chance of trying the Lumea Prestige out.

So what is IPL technology

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology, featured in the Philips Lumea Prestige progressively reduces the re-growth of hair by applying gentle pulses of light and heat to the root/follicle, stimulating the hair to go into a resting phase and as a consequence, the hair sheds naturally and regrowth is slowed down. When used every two weeks for an eight week period, the treatment can reduce hair growth by up to 92%, so women can safely experience the feeling of continuously smooth, hair-free skin for up to eight weeks.

If you are my regular reader, you would know I love anything rose rold!  I adore the whole aesthetic of Lumea Prestige.  The device is weighted but not so heavy that you strain yourself with prolonged use.  The ergonomic design of the device also makes it really easy to hold.  I absolute love that you can use it both corded and cordless!  It means all areas of the body, even those hard to reach places, are easy to treat.

Philips Lumea Prestige comes with four attachments.  Each with different window sizes as well as unique curved shapes and filters for easy and effective treatment of the whole body.  The attachments are easy to latch on and interchange (even with my long nails).

Philips Lumea Prestige features a SmartSkin sensor that allows you to measure your skin tone by pressing a button.  The best setting will be recommended, ensuring you’re using the most effective intensity to achieve the best result possible.  My recommended setting is 4.  For reference, I have black hair and fair/medium skin tone.

My experience

The Philips Lumea Prestige is extremely simple to use. Firstly, you need to remove the hair from the surface of the area you want to treat.  This can be done by shaving, waxing or epilating. However, if you do prefer to wax or epilate you need to leave a few days after removing the hair before treatment to give the hair follicle time to start growing again. This is because you need to have a hair present in the follicle in order to treat it and put it into a resting phase.

Then use the SmartSkin sensor featured on the device to determine which intensity setting you should use the device on. Treatment doesn’t require any gels or creams, so once you have selected the correct setting, simply put on the attachment you want to use and get going.

The back of Lumea Prestige has a white light to show when it is ready to treat (when you have no gaps between the skin and the attachment) so there is no danger of doing it wrong. The slide and flash technology means you don’t even need to lift the product whilst you treat, making treatments quick and easy.

In order to get the best results, you are advised to use the device every 2 weeks for the first 2 months and thereafter you only need to touch up once monthly.

Is there pain?  No, completely pain free.  I do get some sensation, a feeling of heat going into my skin.  The warmth disappears soon after treatment.  I haven’t experienced any irritation or adverse effect.  I have carried on with my deodorant and skincare routine over the treated areas and I haven’t noticed any changes in my skin condition.

There is a Philips Lumea IPL App that you can download.  The app offers step-by-step guidance and support you need.    The App also creates a personal treatment plan for you for each body area the way you like it.  This App is much appreciated by me since I lead such a hectic life!

I have only used Lumea Prestige for 2 sessions.  While I am not completely hair free, the result is indeed very encouraging.  Hair growth under my armpits and legs has slowed down significantly.  I will provide an update on the progress in a few months.

Philips DiamondClean Smart is definitely stylish enough to display in the most fashionable of bathrooms.  The one I have is in cashmere grey; there’s also a black version available.  The DiamondClean Smart has been developed with dental professionals to bring together five modes, three intensity settings and smart head recognition.  When the on button is pressed, the brushing modes illuminated to reveal the array of options.  You simply select the option by scrolling down using a one button action.

Philips Sonicare’s patented sonic technology gently whips toothpaste and saliva into an oxygen-rich foamy liquid and directs it between and behind teeth, even under the gum line, where plaque bacteria flourish. The specially designed soft bristles supported by the unique dynamic sonic action which uses 62,000 brush movements a minute drives fluid between the teeth, effectively clean every surface along the gum-line for a difference you can see and feel.

As mentioned, each brush head has a built-in chip that communicates with the brush.  This allows the brush to adjust to the mode automatically.  Pretty clever right!  This also help you to track how long you have been using the brush head for and when you should replace it.

The toothbrush uses an induction charging system.  How awesome and unique!  You simply rest the toothbrush inside the glass, that’s it! The glass can actually be used to rinse!

There is also a pressure sensor that would alert you if you are brushing too hard.  It does so by changing the vibration sound as well as flashing light on the the base of the handle.  For all those over-brushing enthusiasts out there, this could be your life saver!:)

The best thing about Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart is the App.  I’m telling you it’s such a clever little thing.  It tells me when I am using too much motion or pressure, highlighting the areas I have missed during brushes and makes sure I have covered all the recommended steps for a good oral health.  It’s like a little personal trainer to me: guides, motivates and pushes me to keep going:)

The app customises to your oral health.  You can select and focus on certain areas that you’d like to concentrate on.  You get report and tailored feedback after each brushing.  Using these feedbacks, you can adjust your brushing technique gradually and over time it will become second nature.  The Philips Sonicare app also keeps track of my behaviour over time so I can understand my progress in-between visits to my dental professional.  This is precious to me as I have always struggled with plaque build-up and gum sensitivity (I see my hygienist 3 times a year).

I now feel more confident and empowered to improve my overall oral health.  If you are serious about your oral health, you will need Philips DiamondClean Smart in your life!

Philips DiamondClean Smart and Lumea Prestige have seamlessly been integrated into my beauty routines, empowering me to fully look after myself.  I am in awe with the smart and innovative features that they have.  With the current crazy weather that we are experiencing, at least I have something to look forward to…constant hair free skin and clean, healthy teeth!  Bring on Summer!
