I have never tried a liquid eyeshadow so since Dior releases some limited edition Dior Addict Fluid Shadow I decided to try. You only live once right!
As always, what catches my eyes is the gorgeous packaging….
What Dior says about the Fluid Shadow:
“An ultra-fine, lightweight hybrid texture that illuminates the eyes with sensational mirror shine and long-wearing colour. In a single step, this ingenious makeup can dress the eyelid like an eyeshadow, or define the eyes with a stroke of liner.”
Dior Addict Fluid Shadow Univers is a gorgeous dark taupe brown that looks pretty as an all over eye colour on my NC25-ish skintone.
Now here’s the tricky part…the application.
What Dior says:
“For optimal drying without transfer, apply only on the mobile eyelid. Keep eyes closed for a few seconds after application. Liner application: Using the brush, style the eyes with a stroke of mirror colour along the lash line.”
I read up a few reviews before purchasing mine so I was prepared for a challenge! I use the brush provided…pick up enough fluid on the brush and paint it on my mobile lids. The fluid shadow dries down very quickly with a cooling sensation. I tried to layer the shadow and it becomes very metallic looking…well just like in the swatches.
These swatches were taken indoors in natural lighting. This is a well zoomed-in picture so the some of the shine has been taken away. The pretty shimmers have not been captured by my camera.
I had to be quite careful when pulling out and pushing the applicator back in the tube as it can get very messy. It is quite hard to achieve an eye look with smooth finish and it gets patchy quite easily. I have tried using Dior Addict Fluid Shadow Univers as a liner and was not impressed by it but I have not experimented with it enough to discard the possibility of it being a perfect liner.
What impressed me the most with Univers is the wear time. It is VERY long lasting on my oily lids(I used Urban Decay primer underneath). No signs of creasing after 9 hours at work!
Verdict: I’m glad I have tried Dior Addict Fluid Shadow Univers. I do not love it. The application is too trick for someone who is always pushed for time like myself. I will use it on the days that I know I need a very long lasting eyeshadow. But overall, I don’t think I will be tempted to try another fluid eyeshadow.
I purchased my from my local Boots. You can find Dior Addict Fluid Shadow as most stockists such as Selfridges, House of Fraser and John Lewis.
Have you tried any liquid eyeshadows before? Are you getting anything from Dior Fall 2015 collection?

For me certainly! I wish it is less fussy to apply.xo
I use a flat headed synthetic brush it gives a really nice result. I haven’t tried it as a liner yet but i love this product so much. Shame you didn’t have a good experience with it.

This is the type of product that looks gorgeous when swatched, but so difficult to execute on the eyes perfectly! It’s a lovely colour though. Thanks for reviewing and letting us know your honest opinion!
