Packaging

The foundation is housed in a weighty glass bottle with a pump, giving all the luxurious vibes. There’s a unique and bold “FOUNDATION” writing along one side of the bottle, apparently this was designed so that makeup artists can spot the foundation easily within their kits.
Shade range
There are 50 shades available (Bravo!) in 5 shade categories (Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep) and 3 undertones (Neutral, Cool and Warm).
I chose 2 shades to test, 220N & 230W. Shade 220N has a slight rosy tone and a tad lighter than my skin tone (I’m currently slightly tanned after my holiday, possibly around NC30 for reference) whereas shade 230W is very warm with strong yellow undertone, too dark for my skin tone. Since I have 2 shades, I’ve been mixing them for a better match, I’m sure out of the 50 shades available I’ll be able to pick a perfect shade.

Performance
If you followed me for a while, you’d know I have oily skin so I tend to stay away from foundations with luminous finish. However what got me intrigued about Anastasia Beverly Hills new foundation was the claim that it was long wearing and also it is oil-free.
The consistency of the foundation isn’t too runny nor too creamy. It glides on my skin effortlessly and smooth over my skin imperfections. It doesn’t set too fast leaving you sufficient time to blend.
The finish is rather lovely; healthy, fresh and dewy but not too dewy that it would look too shiny or oily. The foundation feels lightweight and super comfortable on.
The coverage is medium and buildable. I don’t normally go full coverage so the coverage is just right for me. The foundation does a good job of evening out my skin tone and covering my blemishes. I really appreciate that it doesn’t emphasise my skin texture and doesn’t settle into my fine lines during wear.
The foundation is truly long wearing! With the help of my usual mattifying primer, setting powder and setting spray, I’d get a little oily by 6/7 hour mark, with some blotting and powdering it would last for a further 2/3 hours. Therefore I think this foundation could be suitable for all skin types, including oily skin.
As listed above, the foundation has some amazing attributes however it doesn’t contain SPF. It’s not a big deal to me as my morning moisturiser would have SPF and I religiously top up with an SPF mist every 3/4 hours regardless of what foundation I use.
Final thoughts
Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation is a fabulous addition to my foundation arsenal. A luminous foundation that my oily skin actually loves! All boxes are ticked: lightweight finish, healthy and fresh glow and long-wearing.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation will be available from 15th August 2019 at Selfridges.
