HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT VOLUME 3

Did I really need this Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3! Probably not…but I couldn’t possibly keep the family apart:)  Furthermore, how do I resist the ROSEGOLD packaging! ROSEGOLD! OK Hourglass really knows how to win a girl’s heart, well mine at least anyway:)

Just look at the happy family portrait! So much love!

Here is the close up of the new addition.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 consists of:

  1. Finishing Powder, Diffused Light (also included Volume 1): a light yellow powder with a matte finish
  2. Strobe Powder, Hypnotic Strobe Light (New shade): soft champagne gold with micro glitters
  3. Finishing Powder,  Dim Light (also included in Volume 1): Peachy beige with a semi-matte finish
  4. Bronzer, Luminous Bronze Light (also included in Volume 1): soft golden brown with gold shimmers
  5. Blush, Surreal Halo (New shade): rosy mauve with micro pale gold shimmers
  6. Blush, Pure Effect (New shade): a beautiful soft pink with luminous finish

The above swatches were taken indoors on my moisturised arm.  From top to bottom: Diffused Light, Hypnotic Strobe Light, Dim Light, Luminous Bronze Light, Surreal Halo, Pure Effect.

Looking at the picture above, you could say Volume 1 (top left) and volume 3 (top right) are similar,  well with 3 same powders to be exact.  Last year’s palette (housed in the marble packaging) didn’t have any repeat shades and the shades are much lighter making it more suitable for fair to light skin tones.

As you can see I haven’t made any dents on my first palette yet (although Diffused Light is looking well-loved) and I have been using the palette regularly since purchasing it.  I love using Diffused Light to set my under eye areas for some brightening effect.  Dim Light is superb as a finishing powder or to set my under eye areas when I am slightly tanned  (I sometimes mixed Diffused Light and Dim Light together for a customised shade).

The Luminous Lighting Bronzers appear, and are slightly, different in the 2 palettes I have (thanks to the marbling effect of the powder).  The Luminous Lighting Bronzer in volume 3 is a little lighter with more sheen (please check out the swatch comparison below).

Hypnotic Strobe Lighting is a beautiful highlighter.  I didn’t expect it to be so powerful.  This baby gives you a glorious sheen with almost-wet look.  I love it more than I thought I would! There are some visible sparkles translated onto my skin. It shines up to 6 hours on my oily skin.

Surreal Halo is a beautiful, pigmented blush that would suit all skin tones.  It is perfect for Fall and Winter.  It blends out beautifully and last incredibly long on my oily skin.  It starts to fade around the edges of my cheeks at around the 7 hours mark but it is still quite apparent that I had applied blush at the 11 hour mark.

Pure Effect Blush is Pure LOVE!  The formula of Pure Effect is slightly different from the rest of the powder in the palette.  The texture is more gel-like and more silky with very little dustiness when I dip my brush in.  And be warned, this baby is PIGMENTED.  I wowed at the first dip and had to take most of the product off on my hand before applying.  It blends out beautifully and stays perfect on my oily skin for over 8 hours before some fading takes place.

Since I have the whole family, I decided to do a swatch-athon for your viewing pleasure!

I love Hourglass Powders and being a true beauty-junkie, I am more than happy to have Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 in my collection.  It’s a pleasant surprise that this might just be my favourite out of the 3.  I love the 2 new blushes and Surreal Halo! I do wish one of the newly released bronzers was included instead of Luminous Light.  These are great palettes to take with you on travels and a fabulous way for you to try what Hourglass has to offer if you are new to the brand.

Are you picking up Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3?  What’s your favourite product from the brand?

Thank you for being here today!

Much love always,

Sandyxo
