If you follow me on Instagram, you would know I am a fan of Matte and liquid lipsticks and a sucker for trend therefore it was inevitable that I would have to try Huda Beauty Liquid Matte:) First batch of release on Cult Beauty was sold out so fast before I could blink! Luckily, I got my foot in on the second release. To try the range out, I picked Bombshell and Trophy Wife. Because indeed I am!:)
Huda Beauty has got it spot on in terms of the packaging. The outer packaging is sleek and eye-catching. The lipstick tube has a nice matte finish with Huda’s logo printed on one side. I love how it’s simple yet sophisticated. You can also identify the colour of the lipstick by the lip print on the box.
Bombshell and Trophy Wife!
The applicator is a standard sponge tip. It is fairly easy to use and I don’t have any issue with application.
There’s maybe inconsistency in formulation across the range. As between the two shades I picked up, Bombshell is a lot thinner in consistency and very liquidy (this makes it possible to reapply). Trophy Wife has a thicker consistency and clumped up when I tried to top up without taking the earlier layer off.
Both shades wear well beyond 6 hours before fading. The colour fades out evenly. During and after wear, my lips are not dry or flaky. The colours do not bleed or peeled off my lips. Colours still remain after eating although there was obvious transferring. There is a sweet, vanilla scent to the lipsticks that I can’t say I am fond of but it does dissipate quickly. These liquid lipsticks remain slight tacky after drying down which bothers me a little but the other features do outweight this little annoyance:)
Below are the swatches taken in natural light by a large window. On my lips, Bombshell (bottom swatch) is a peachy nude with brown undertone. Trophy Wife is warm, mauve deep rose shade.
There are 16 shades in the range. The following 2 images were taken from Huda Beauty Instagram feed.
Overall, I love Huda Beauty Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I’m currently eyeing Trendsetter and Heartbreaker next:)
Is Matte liquid lipstick your thang? Have you tried Huda Beauty products?
Much love as always,
