There are 8 shades on offer, the shades are designed to flex and adjusts to multiple skin tones. In general, I find cushion foundations don’t offer an extensive shade range so eight is a pretty good number.
My thoughts
Firstly, the compact is beautiful and chic, I don’t find it too bulky and the foundation reservoir is securely covered by a snap-shut lid. The elephant image makes me happy, as always I appreciate Chantecaille’s philanthropic endeavours. I also love that it is refillable.
Over the last week, I’ve tested the foundation using the included puff, dense brushes and beauty blenders. For a really natural coverage, beauty blender is the best tool. However I can’t help but worry that the beauty blender would soak up too much of the precious foundation therefore this is not my preferred method. Using a dense brush, the application is much faster with a natural finish. You can also use your fingers to apply, I only like using my fingers to spot conceal small areas. Overall, my favourite method is using the included puff, I much prefer the coverage and the blurring effect it can offer.
The foundation feels hydrating on, it has a skin-like natural finish which I love. The coverage is light and buildable to a light-medium coverage. I really love how lightweight and perfecting the finish is. Very comfortable and flattering.
Cushion foundations tend to have more of dewy finish and are not long lasting. On my combo skin (no primer or setting spray), I would want to blot/touch up by the 4-5 hour mark. With oil control measures such as mattifying primer and setting spray, the longevity is enhanced to 8-9 hours.
Out of the shades available, I was sent shade Nude and it’s slightly dark for my current skin tone although it’s still forgiving due to the light coverage. I will look to try the lighter shade Vanilla.
In summary, I enjoy the convenience of a cushion foundation and Chantecaille Future Skin Cushion delivers a perfecting natural finish effortlessly. The skincare benefits is definitely a winning factor for me. I think people with dry skin would really love the dewy and hydrating skin-like finish.
Future Skin Foundation and Future Skin Cushion Comparison
I have the original Future Skin Foundation and I can say I favour the cushion version. Personally, I find the cushion has more coverage with a satin finish whereas the Future Skin Foundation has a more dewy finish and creamy texture. The skincare ingredients are different, with the inclusion of peptides in the cushion formula therefore the cushion would offer more anti-ageing benefits. In addition, I much prefer the perfecting effect from the cushion, very flattering on my skin imperfections.
