Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Medium 3

Hello peeps,

Hope the sun is shining where you are.

I have had Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Medium 3 a while and today I am ready to share my thoughts with you.

Guerlain is well known for their multi-coloured Meteorites pearls which claimed to release an incredible lightweight perfecting halo:) Yes we all want that!

This Spring, Guerlain transformed its legendary Meteorites pearls into a stunning compact. The pearls are finely pressed to form a beautiful mosaic. The range comes in 3 shades: 2-light, 3-medium and 4-golden.  I purchased the Medium shade from Escentual.

The compact is beautiful and the mosaic pattern is even more breath-taking.

imageAnd here is the swatch on my NC25 skin:

From what I know, the pink and mauve dots are meant to balance the complexion, white dots to illuminate and champagne to even out skin tone.

There is a subtle but noticeable violet fragrance which does not linger once applied to skin.  The texture of the powder is soft, finely milled and smooth on the skin.

I was resisting hard not to purchase Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Medium 3 as I was worried that it would add too much shine to my combination skin.  But as you can see, I caved in even at a risk of not being able to use it:)

I have had Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Medium 3 for over 3 months now.  Prior to changing my foundation to Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation, I did feel that Guerlain Meteorites Compact made my face oilier. Now with Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation, I feel that I could use Guerlain Meteorites Compact and it does add a little something to my skin.  Although I do only use it on my “drier days”. (my face seems to produce more oil when I’m tired, lack of sleep or when my hair is greasy!)

On me, Guerlain Meteorites imparts a subtle luminosity and gives my skin a smoother appearance.  My pores appear slightly smaller and blurred out.  I think you need to observe the effect from a slight distance.  I notice that my face lights up and seems more alert.  On close up, you really can’t tell any changes on the skin.  It adds a little oomph that people can not pin point what and how.  Its one of those days when people would say to you “what have you done difference to your skin today?” or ” oh, your skin looks good today!”.

Guerlain Meteorites Powder seems to be mattifying at first and I think it could cling to dry patches. On its own, my face gets oiler quicker.  I normally use it after my setting powder and the luminosity would last for 2-3 hours.

Verdict:  I love using Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Medium 3.  The effect is subtle but striking on me.  It is a finishing powder so it is not a must have.  If you have really oily skin, I think it is not for you.  Although I like the violet fragrance, but I do wish it was not added due to the possible irritation it can cause to the skin. But it is a typical Guerlain smell after all!

You can find Guerlain products at most department stores and online.

Have you tried the new Guerlain Meteorites Compact?  Do you think we need finishing powders?

Thank you for reading!

I’m very tempted by the compact! I have the original beads which adorns my vanity. Guerlain produces such beautiful items! But besides the packaging itself, I love the smell and the way the beads finish my looks. So pretty! Your description makes the compact sound tough to resist :o)

I adore those pearls! A woman can not have enough pearls right;) The compact is much more convenient to carry around. But if you have the original pearls already….you must resist lol..

Love Guerlain. Saw this compact at a big duty-free shop at Heathrow. They also had the refillable compact that is heavier and fancier…and £130!!!! WHOA. It’s gorgeous though and comes with a pressed powder that is suitable for all shades!
