It’s definitely “foundation season”! New releases with innovative cosmetic technology and advanced formulations are being launched fast and furious! Talking about innovation, I have a super impressive new release to share with you today, Surratt Beauty Dew Drop Foundation.
About Surratt Beauty
Surratt Beauty was founded by Troy Surratt, apprentice to the late, legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin. Celebrated for his daring use of colours, each stunning product is made using only the highest-quality ingredients for the most luxurious and seamless application.
Surratt Beauty Dew Drop Foundation
- Provides light-to-medium coverage
- Dewy, hydrating finish
- Natural, seamless, lightweight
- Unique delivery system ensures complexion receives the optimal amount
- Available in 20 shades
The foundation is housed in a unique delivery system with a rubber button and a dropper style dispenser, less mess less waste! It is designed to dispense the optimum amount and a drop goes a long way. Side note, if you’re a fellow nail-addict like myself, you might find pressing the button a little more challenging when your nails are getting too long.
One thing to note is that there’s 17ml of product in the dropper compared to 30ml in a typical size of a foundation bottle. I find as little as 3 drops could cover my whole face with some layering on the problematic areas.
The foundation has a thin liquid texture, really silky to the touch. For application, it is advised to use a dense brush however I gravitate towards using my fingers to blend. I really love how the foundation simply melds into my skin, so seamlessly that you can’t detect that you have foundation on. The silky texture glides over my imperfections and pores, very kind to my fine lines!
The coverage is definitely light, buildable to a medium coverage. The finish is so skin-like, my first experience with such natural finish. I normally tend to gravitate to more coverage but there is something magical about this foundation. It evens out your complexion and imparts a healthy finish. It doesn’t cover darker blemishes fully so you might need your concealers.
I also love the weightless feel, you really don’t feel like you’re wearing foundation at all. Hence if you don’t like that mask-like, makeup-y feel or appearance on your skin, this foundation is definitely for you.
On my oily/combination skin, Dew Drop Foundation lasts well into 6/7 hours before I look a tad more dewy but healthy and I’m here for it. As the coverage is light there isn’t much sign of foundation breaking up/disintegrating which is fabulous. I really think the foundation is suitable for all skin types, I personally use setting powder and spray to help with longevity.
Shade-wise, I picked shade 4 using online swatches and it matches my skin tone PERFECTLY, the undertone is not too warm and not too yellow (I’m around NC25 for reference)! Since the coverage is light, I think it’s more forgiving in terms of shade matching.
Undoubtedly, Surratt Beauty Dew Drop Foundation has definitely made it straight into my top 5. The foundation screams innovation, from the packaging to the formulation. Surratt Beauty Dew Drop Foundation truly offers the most skin-like finish!
