“A picture is worth a thousand words.” seems so fitting with the above image of the BY Terry Smoky Nude Eye Designer Palette doesn’t it! As soon as I heard BY TERRY was releasing a palette, I ordered it from SpaceNK the day it became available online at the beginning of March.
It is BREATH-TAKING to look at and a PLEASURE to swatch…the texture is SOOOO silky and smooth…pure EXQUISITE. I think I actually find the texture much more pleasing than the Burberry eyeshadows. It is not too buttery but not at all dry…The embossing around the edges is beyond beautiful and cleverly positioned so that you don’t ruin it in a hurry.
The Palette contains 10 of 1.4g eyeshadows and a double ended brush. It is housed in a sleek plastic case with the signature By TERRY pattern.
Let me leave the photos do some of the talking…
Did you notice how I bought the palette purely to match with my iPad mini cover!:)

Here comes the swatches:
1. Top row swatched DRY 2.Top row swatched WET
3. Second row swatched DRY 4. Second Row swatched WET
Top row consists of 4 satin colours and a matte dark, cool brown(far right). The second row consists of mattes. For the price, I guess you want to know how whether the eyeshadows live up to expectations….Well, I have played with the Palette on and off for the last month and found that all eyeshadows apply very smoothly and blends like a dream. The top row is very pigmented and I don’t feel there’s a need to apply any of the shadows wet. Applied dry, the second row eyeshadows would give you a very natural look. I find that the colours do seem to fade away through out the day(even with a primer). Applied the eyeshadows with a dense, dampened brush would give you a more vibrant, opaque colours and lasts much longer (more than 8 hours).
Ok, so some of you will find that the Palette looks boring and no different from say Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 and 3. I thought so for a while and felt slightly disappointed. Then one day, I reached for my Naked 2 Palette and bam! I realised the difference…Chopper shade from Naked 2 Palette had so much fall-out…I came home from work and my face was scattered with the glitter like a Disco Queen…thank goodness I was on a late shift! The matte shades in the Naked 2 Palette, Foxy and Tease, are smooth but is a far-cry from the exquisite texture of the By Terry matte shades. If you were to do a “no makeup makeup look’, you will succeed with ease using By Terry Smoky Nude Palette.
I have experimented transforming a natural day look to a smoky night look with the Palette and I’m happy to report that it was very easy to do so. I also love using the shadows on top of cream shadows…because the texture is so smooth and finely milled, it doesn’t make shadows becoming to thick and caky together.
Verdict: It was LOVE at first swatch for me! And I fall deeper into love with the Palette the more I play with it:). For now, the light shades don’t seem to last as long as I wish them to but I’m still experimenting with them. However, for sure I would have loved a better brush for the price and maybe a little more variation of the light shades. The palette contains mostly mattes and only 3 satin/sheen shades so if you’re after shimmering neutrals, this palette is not for you.
SO what do you think of the BY TERRY Smoky Nude Eye Designer Palette? Would you indulge?
